RIP Kurt Vonnegut

RIP Kurt Vonnegut.

Someday, someday, this crazy world will have to end,
And our God will take things back that He to us did lend.
And if, on that sad day, you want to scold our God,
Why go right ahead and scold Him. He'll just smile and nod.

Sad that he's dead. But I guess he was old. Cat's Cradle is just one of those really amazing books that everybody everywhere should read.

I pulled this off the web, so I don't know if the quote's 100% accurate. In his last novel, Timequake, Vonnegut describes giving memorial remarks about Isaac Asimov to the American Humanist Association:

"We had a memorial service for Asimov a while back, and at one point I said, 'Isaac is up in Heaven now.' That was the funniest thing I could have said to an audience of Humanists. I rolled them in the aisles. It was several minutes before order could be restored. If I should ever die, again God forbid, I hope some of you will say, 'Kurt's up in Heaven now.' That's my favorite joke."
