Poem on the Interweb

More of the poetry you love to hear about. A delightful online write up of the continued awesome adventures of the Miami Poetry Collective, over at the avant guardian internet page. Features a poem by yours truly.

Good stuff. Is that kind of "I wonder how the poet managed to understand my relationship with _______ without even knowing me" a common reaction to the stuff you all write on demand? I think you said once that you've gotten that kind of feedback at least a couple of times before.

Yeah, it's a fairly common thing (he said, patting himself on the back) to have people feel like you've struck a chord. Not just for me, but for all the on-demand poets.

I think it has to do with the fact that many people don't have expectations for what poem they're going to get, to the point of not really necessarily knowing what a poem is. So then, if you show any kind of understanding of humanity as an on-the-spot poet, you can get to the reader pretty readily.
